On
Sunday December 12, 2010 twelve members of the Ripon Tribe Wrestling
Club traveled to Bear Creek High School in Stockton for a Folkstyle
Tournament.
The top three place
finishers in each division took home a medal.
Donovan
Fontillas secured his first place medal this week by pinning all three
of his opponents in decisive wins that showcased his hard work and
dedication to the sport. Brenden Fugit earned his first place medal by
pinning both of his opponents in the first round, a spectacular
performance for his first tournament ever. This week’s match of the day
went to Tristan Smith. Tristan finished second in last years Greco
and Folkstyle State Championships. Tristan pinned his first two
opponents within the first round. His third match was an exciting match
against Ripon Tribes own Angelo Calderon. Although Tristan was able to
secure the win in overtime with a head and arm take down, it was an
exciting match between teammates that was a crowd pleaser.
Medal
winners also included Xander Reyes (second place) Gunner Schneringer
(First Place) Brandon Barnett (Third Place), Gabriel Barnett (Third
Place). Congratulations to all the participants.
